New chair for Norfolk chaplaincy group Good Work

Norfolk workplace chaplaincy organisation Good Work has a new chair after former chief executive of Norfolk County Council, Barry Capon, has stepped down after a decade in the role.

AndrewRouse260He will be replaced by long-standing board member Audrey Sharp, former head of human resources at Norfolk County Council.
Barry said: "Being the chair of Good Work has been a privilege and most rewarding.
“The work of the chaplains is meeting so many needs of people who are mainly without any church or faith but who need comfort and a listening ear to their many problems and difficulties. The workplace today is a tough environment.
“I am full of admiration for our chaplains, who are dedicated to their task, work tirelessly and it is quite a lonely occupation. In this time of differences they are a wonderful example of ecumenism in action - we have five chaplains now, two Anglicans, one Roman Catholic, one Baptist and one Romanian Orthodox.
“Raising funds to continue the work of these chaplains is difficult and is most deserving of help."
Good Work provides workplace chaplaincy services to a number of private and public sector organisations in Norfolk.
